Finishing the patio

This week, I cut the last few pieces of stone for the diagonal step and completed the path to the newly barked path to the shed. I have cleared the garden of the logs and branches from the tree. And, the back sleeper wall is also finished.

Over the last few weeks I have been cracking on with the garden. We have almost completed the sleeper wall and I will soon be finishing the patio.

The garden needs a general tidy up before Spring, getting the veggie beds ready for this year’s food source and clearing the rubbish out. There are areas that still need bark laying down and will still have no shrubs at the back fence.

Today, my dad and I finished the sleeper wall around the patio and have started on the back wall. It’s a slow process of drilling holes in the sleepers and threading rods through each sleeper to lock them in place. This creates a rigid wall and stops them from rocking back and forth.

I also cut down some tree stumps with the chainsaw and chopped them down to managable sizes for carrying.

Tasks to be done:
- Finish the back sleeper wall
- Finish the patio area
- New back gate
- Clear the garden of logs and branches
- Prepare the soil for veggie planting

Patios - sleepers ready to go in
I have now removed most of the grass and soil from the garden area for the new patio. I cannot describe just how much hard work this is. Lugging the wheelbarrow around to the front, it’s never-ending. The skip is pretty full and the garage side-door will be added next week.
