ThomasLand at Drayton Manor

Just returned from a trip up to Drayton Manor and ThomasLand. This is theme park within a theme park. It’s a separate zone for Thomas the Tank Engine fans (and their kids). The Thomasland was great for James. He appeared interested in all the rides but after the Runaway Trucks, he was a little sceptical whether the others might be too fast.

Drayton Manor is at Tamworth, Staffordshire, B78 3TW

Motor Racing in Spa, Belgium

This weekend I went to the F1 Grand Prix at Spa in Belgium. Myself and Paul travelled on the EuroTunnel to France and drove to Belgium. A journey that took about 6 hours.
We stayed at the F1 Campsite in Lodonez near Stavelot. Belgium is a beautiful country very under-rated and missed by many people including myself.

On the Saturday, we watched the Porsche Supercup, GP2 Series Feature Race and the Formula 1 qualifying.

As we had pit passes we could walk around backstage snapping photos of the drivers and the cars. We also stood at the pitwall during the Porsche Supercup qualification session too.

The GP2 Series sessions used Pit 2 to get ready for the race before driving the Pit 1 to start the race. We watched the cars getting prepared for the both races and the Saturday and Sunday.

The Formula One races all prepared in Pit 1, an area we weren’t allowed so we didn’t get to watched them. We headed out into the crowds to watch the race for the stands.

It was a great weekend although very tiring.

Vianden, Luxembourg

On my trip around to Spa in Belguim, we took a drive to Vianden in Luxembourg. We walked around the town in the late afternoon for a few hours before dinner. It’s a peaceful place to be, with a wide river running along the valley floor. Up high on the mountain above, sits a simple looking castle to one side, with high walls and turrets.

One week in Devon

I just got back from a week’s break in Ilfracombe, North Devon. It’s a very picturesque part of the country with fantastic coastline and changeable weather. I spent most of my time on the beach relaxing, meeting up with my family and spending time with James and Sarah. Time to reflect on my work situation and consider my options in life. The weather was extremely sunny and windy, a good trade off as I always expect rain in Devon. Just the one downpour during the night. I was even treated to a tan for about 24 hours.
