Over the last few years, I have amassed a collection of people via Facebook in the vein hope that I would catch up with many of my school friends and old work colleagues.
The idea was to chat about old times and generally keep in touch. But after my failed attempt to bring people together last year at a school reunion, most of my ‘Facebook friends’ haven’t contacted me. Never even commented on FB messages or photos.
So why keep them on a list which should appear lean and useful? Well, exactly. It isn’t an assault on those removed for not contacting me – just a realisation by myself that maybe most people like the idea of connection without the hassle of actually getting in touch.
Are we losing the ability to correspond?
