Today, I fix the garage roof. I had two tasks to complete. First, clear up all the moss the debris and make it look tidy. Second, fix the corner, the felt had deteriorated and it was leaking. I spent about an hour or so sifting all the stones to catch the moss and debris. I was very boring work, but look good when it was finished. Second, the hole. I bought some felt, expanding foam, cold tar and roof sealant. I cut a strip of bitumen felt from the roll and coated it in the adhesive, filled the hole with the expanding foam and covered the hole with the felt. Then, I watched the foam expand out of the hole and down the side of the garage. What a mess. I finished off by using the sealant in a gun thing. This also went everywhere. Looked good though. It was a really messy job. Everything was sticking to me and I found it quite difficult. I think I should have worn gloves too – all the fingers were covered in black tar and adhesive. I spent the best part of 3 hours soaking my fingers in white spirit and cleaning off the bitumen tar from my hands. My fingernails are still a mess.
